Call for Submissions – Composers & Choreographers!

The New Art Forum seeks submissions from composers and choreographers to be selected to participate in the premiere event in this new series.

About: Intersections 2020 is the premiere event in this new series. It is designed to foster collaboration across artistic medium. This year the focus is dance and music. Three composers and three choreographers will be selected to collaborate on the creation and presentation of three new works.

Funding: Selected composers and choreographers will each receive a $200 honorarium and an additional $200 towards production expenses. The New Art Forum will provide the venue, publicity, and concert support.

Selection will be based on the criteria and guidelines below.

To Submit:
Email an electronic portfolio to the address above by midnight St. Louis time on January 10, 2020. Portfolio should include examples of at least three works, your bio, an artist statement or statement of purpose, and a list of any performances/presentations. Testimonials, letters of recommendation, and press clippings are optional. Printed/visual materials/scores can be attachments in pdf format or links to online resources. Audio examples can be mp3 attachments or links. Video examples should be links to online content.

Criteria:

1. Demonstration or strong indication of the ability to collaborate across disciplines in a mutually respectful and valuing environment.
2. Professionalism in materials and work.
3. Artistic excellence as illustrated through work samples.
4. Evidence of ability to complete projects on time.

Guidelines:
1. Open to all composers and choreographers from the greater St. Louis region.
2. The work process is to be a joint collaboration of equals. We seek to foster work that strives for interdisciplinarity. To this end, the role of music and movement components should be conceived and realized with equal weight and emphasis.
3. Ability to be in St. Louis and to materially participate in the rehearsals and event.
4. Copyright and ownership of the works remain with the selected creators.
5. Selected creators grant New Art Forum license to perform the work on Intersections 2020 and agree not to seek additional compensation through performance rights organizations.
6. Selected creators grant New Art Forum permission to use images and recordings connected with the project in publicity and archival materials.
